Recommended Products

This is a list of products that Christian Wernstedt has personally found to be helpful.

Natural Vitality - Natural Calm, oz, 16 oz powder . The staple for magnesium replenishment. If you often go to bed with a pounding heart, try this.

Philips Hf3470/60 Wake-up Light, White This is what wakes me up in the morning. (I've turned off the bird chirps though.)

FatGripz  An essential device for developing grip- and underarm strength. Example exercise: Rig a bar with FatGripz attached in a power rack such that you can raise and drop the bar safely without a crash. Pick up the bar with a "pinching" grip from above. Hold until your grip fails. Repeat. This exercise is especially great for thumb-strength.

Captains of Crush Hand Grippers . I, a 40-something male with significant weight training experience, but not a very strong grip started out with the "Trainer" and "No 1" models. Note that the grippers don't train the thumb. For that you need the FatGripz above.

PlateMate Micro Loading 1.25 Pound Donut. These are essential for gradual load progression in a weight training program with either machines or free weights. I especially love these for training the rotator cuffs (shoulders) with a cable machine with small enough incremental weights to make continuos progress without injury.

Uvex S0360X Ultra-spec 2000 Safety Eyewear, Orange Frame, SCT-Orange UV Extreme Anti-Fog Lens. These ugly glasses block the blue wavelengths that disrupt melatonin production at night and that therefore make it harder to go to sleep. (Diminished melatonin production and disrupted circadian rythms have also been linked to cancer and other serious health issues). These glasses are perfect, for example, when reading from an iPad in bed before going to sleep, or when watching that movie that keeps you up too late.

F.lux. For the same reasons that I recommend the Uvex glasses, I recommend F.lux, as it "makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day".
